Fund Drive for MCDC

Every year members of our extended Montessori Child Development Center family are asked to make a important and positive difference in the educational lives of our students by making a contribution to MCDC’s annual giving program and our School’s key fundraising priority.

As in almost all independent schools, tuition revenue at MCDC cover only about 80% of the actual costs of educating a student.  MCDC budget in this fashion to keep tuition as affordable as possible to the broadest possible segment of the community. Monetary and physical gifts to the MCDC Fund are a essential part of our general operating budget. Gifts to the MCDC Fund are unrestricted. This allows the Administration to use the resources from the fund where they are needed most at any time during the school year.

The MCDC Fund drive begins in November and has no ending date, although if donors are considering a tax deductible donation there may be calendar consideration on the donor\'s end. Our goal is for 100% participation from parents. While the ability to give varies from family to family, full participation of our families is very important. When everyone contributes, it strengthens MCDC’s resources and serves as a tribute to the commitment of the school community. As a 501c3 non-profit corporation, gifts may be tax-deductible to the extent allowable by law.

The MCDC Fund is the name MCDC’s annual fund drive, our highest priority giving effort. Gifts to the MCDC Fund go directly to support vital day-to-day operating expenses of the school. These expenses include salaries for the teachers your children know and love, Montessori materials, faculty professional development, special presenters and outdoor education, financial aid, and upkeep of the facilities.

Is an annual fund unique to MCDC?

No, most private schools rely on the generosity of their loyal school community (current families, alumni, grandparents and friends) to make charitable, tax-deductible contributions to close the gap between what tuition covers and the actual expense of each student’s education.

How much should I give?

The level of your gift is something only your family can determine. We ask that current families consider making a meaningful gift. We hope that current families consider MCDC their top philanthropic priority. Although there is a wide range in the amount of gifts, the typical gift to the MCDC Fund is between $500 and $1000. We cannot emphasize enough, however, that each gift makes a difference, regardless of its amount.

May I use a debit or credit card for my gift?

Absolutely! You may charge your gift with a credit card by clicking DONATE link in the Giving section of the MCDC website. You may also donate through the website by using PAY PAL.

If I can’t donate what I’d like to right away, can I make a pledge to The MCDC Fund?

Many donors submit a pledge form and make the payment at some other time. Payments may also be made in installments (PayPal or monthly check) over time provided that they are paid in full by June 30, the end of MCDC’s fiscal year.
